Clinical Neuropsychologist

Robert Ruane is a Clinical Neuropsychologist with specialisation in brain injury rehabilitation (e.g., following traumatic brain injury or stroke) and the assessments of older adults with cognitive concerns or dementia. He also has experience working with individuals with various neurological conditions (e.g., multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, and encephalopathy), or neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, intellectual disabilities).

With a robust clinical background, Robert has experience working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in healthcare settings to provide neuropsychological assessments that go on to inform treatments plans and service provision to improve quality of life for the individual.

Robert offers comprehensive neuropsychological assessments and reports that can:

  • Inform the diagnoses of neurological conditions
  • Identify the areas and severity of impairments
  • Inform suitability to return to work, driving, or studies
  • Review decision making ability
  • Improve the individual (or their family’s) understanding of their cognitive difficulties and inform specific strategies to help manage the difficulties.
  • Assist with obtaining funding from government bodies including the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and Centrelink.

Robert is also passionate about client-centered care, and strives to empower individuals with cognitive concerns and their families with evidence-based compensatory strategies, lifestyle changes, and cognitive remediation to help make the most of preserved cognitive functions and minimise the impact of any areas of weakness.
