The PTSD Checklist for DSM-5 (PCL-5) is a validated 20-item self-report measure that assesses the severity of PTSD symptoms. Complete the questions below for a free, private result.
The PCL-5 was developed by Weathers and colleagues (2013) at the National Center for PTSD. It is one of the most widely used measures of PTSD symptoms and corresponds to the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. It assesses four symptom clusters: intrusions, avoidance, negative alterations in cognition and mood, and hyperarousal.
A score of 31 or above suggests clinically significant PTSD symptoms that may benefit from professional assessment and treatment.
Our psychologists treat PTSD and trauma using evidence-based approaches, including trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Prolonged Exposure (PE), and EMDR. If your results suggest trauma symptoms are affecting your life, a conversation with one of our clinicians is a practical next step.
